New Year Honours for Mid-Ulster! thumbnailMr John Williamson, owner of the Valley Hotel in Fivemiletown received an MBE for his services to tourism.

MID-ULSTER as a region has featured prominently in the New Year honours listing with two OBE's awarded and two MBE's handed out.
Dungannon golfer Darren Clarke has received an Order of the British Empire (OBE) after being included for his services to Golf.
It's a great start to the New Year for the County Tyrone golfing hero who enjoyed a magnificent 2011 which started with his British Open Major win at Royal St George's Sandwich back in July. Other highlights included having the Freedom of the Borough of Dungannon bestowed upon him when he returned to his home town in October and then just last month (December) he was named runner-up in the British Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
On the business front Mr Jim Dobson, managing director of Dungannon-based Dunbia, was also honoured with an OBE for his services to business in Northern Ireland.
Speaking of the New Year Honour Jim, who is from Dungannon, said: "It is a surprise - totally unexpected, but I look upon it as much as an achievement for the company."
Also honoured was Mr Robert Moore Robinson, Principal of Rainey Endowed School, Magherafelt who receives the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to Education in Northern Ireland.
And Mr John Victor Williamson, owner of the Valley Hotel in Fivemiletown, also received the MBE for his services to tourism in Northern Ireland.
Commenting on the award Mr Williamson said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to receive the MBE - it has come as a complete and utter surprise.
“I look upon it as recognition not only for me personally but my wife Sally and family, Diane, Paul, Greg and Lisa, all of whom have put a lot of hard work into the hotel and the general tourism effort."
Mrs Flora Magee from Omagh also received an MBE for services to the community in Northern Ireland.
