Children give a ‘Hi-Five’ to Society’s magical party thumbnailAmy Mullan and Miranda Hazelton, enjoying the Hi-Five party.

THE ARMAGH and Dungannon Branch of Hi-Five Deaf Children's Society held a very successful Christmas Party at Armagh City Hotel.
The party was one of the most successful the charity has ever hosted and was enjoyed by over 70 children and their families.
The children were entertained by local magician, the brilliant Caolan McBride who, as always did a magnificent job of keeping 70 children enthralled. Thank-you Caolan! Thanks also to Stephen Bradley (Resident DJ, and compere for the night) who also provided a wonderful show of laser lights and music, which amazed the children.
Kathryn Little and Carla Sinnamon (Face Painters) very kindly gave of their time and artistic talents, which delighted the children - a very big thank you to both girls.
The charity would also like to thank the City Hotel Armagh for their excellent hospitality and flexibility with such a large number of children and helping make the event such a success.
Thank you also to local businesses including Melvin Murray Transport, World of Sport, Lila's Fashions, Benetton Armagh, Ben Sinnamon, manager of Fane Valley Augher, J.J Quinn Fruit & Veg, Coalisland, The Famous Grouse Loughgall and Johnston's Home Bakery, who made very generous donations towards the raffle.
And of course, thank you to all the families who attended, without whom there wouldn't have been a party.
Some parents remarked that it was wonderful to be able to go out like a normal family and watch their children having fun without the usual difficulties of coping with a disabled child whilst out and about.
One of Hi-Five's primary aims is to provide deaf children with opportunities to participate in enjoyable activities, whilst learning new skills, gain in confidence and meet other deaf children, maybe for the first time. We aim to provide opportunities for the children to engage in deaf-friendly activities such as one-to -one swimming lessons and support to attend Summer Schemes, such as the Orchard Leisure Centre, which very kindly helped us provide last summer, therefore enabling some of our deaf children to attend and fully participate in all activities. We believe that with the right support, deaf children can do anything other children can do.
Hi-Five's Family Sign Language (BSL) classes resume in Ballysaggart Business Complex on Tuesday 6th March, 7 - 9pm. Everyone will be made very welcome.
