Nationwide is bringing new jobs to Dungannon
Wednesday, 12 November 2008
IN the midst of the current economic crisis, there is some good news for Dungannon as the town prepares to open its' first Nationwide Agency branch creating, in the short term, ten full time and part time jobs for the local economy.
The Building Society, the largest in the UK which has also planned to operate in the Republic, will open its Dunganon Branch on December 1 of this year at Church Street creating between eight and ten jobs in the short term. The Dungannon branch will be one of only three branches opening in 2008 throughout the UK. The branch has already 14 outlets across the Province.
Mark Patterson who has been appointed as the Financial Director of the new branch explained why Nationwide has avoided many of the pitfalls other banks and building society's have fallen into. He said: "The Nationwide is the UK's largest Building Society and unlike most other banks do not have any shareholders and have therefore not experienced the same problems as most of the other lending institutions."
Heading up an impressive and experienced support team, Mr Patterson will work alongside Branch Manager, Mary Glackin (ex branch Manager with Bank of Ireland) and Kate Buchannon (ex Bank Manager of Bank of Ireland, Dungannon).
The Building Society will offer a range of services including current accounts, deposit accounts, bonds, savings accounts, mortgages and credit cards, personal and commercial lending. The Building Society has 15 million customers and employs 19,000 people throughout the UK.
Sponsoring the UK's four national Football teams, the Nationwide is also a major supporter of Macmillan Cancer Research and this work will be supported by the Dungannon Branch by its' quarterly coffee mornings.
