Former pupil Serena 'drops in' on schools

A FORMER Dungannon girl dropped in to her former school yesterday... literally!
Serena Davidson, who is a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, paid a visit to the Royal School Dungannon yesterday.
And she arrived in style, via a Royal Navy helicopter.
The 27-year-old attended Newmills Primary School before attending The Royal School Dungannon between 1992-1999.
A keen sportswoman, she was the Captain of the School 1st XI Hockey team and represented Ulster at U16 and U18 level.
Having completed her 'A' Levels, she studied at Queen's University, Belfast, gaining a BSc in Economics and Politics and a PGDip in Finance.
Whilst studying at university, Serena joined the Royal Naval Reserves gaining her commission in 2002.
She entered full time service at Britannia Royal Naval College as an Observer in September 2003 and began flying training the following year at 750 Naval Air Squadron based at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall.
Lt Davidson gained her Observer 'Wings' after completing Operation Flying Training in 2006 and since then has been a frontline observer on 857 Naval Air Squadron flying in Sea King Airborne Surveillance and Control helicopters.During her time on 857 NAS, Serena has taken in part exercises in Sierra Leone, USA and throughout Europe and has seen two operational tours in the Gulf.
Now living in Falmouth, she enjoys keeping fit and plays hockey for her local club.
Serena enjoyed yesterday's visit to Dungannon and meeting many of her former teachers.
She and her crew also dropped in on Cookstown Primary School yesterday morning where she was greeted by the Principal Mr Neil Downing, staff and pupils.
