Three remanded on drugs charges

THREE men - two from Cookstown - appeared before a special sitting of Enniskillen Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon, Monday, on charges relating to almost 500,000 worth of drugs.

The charges follow the recovery of approximately 400,000 worth of Cocaine and Cannabis and a large quantity of cash in the Mid-Ulster area on Saturday last.

Stephen Currie, 29, from Old Park Mews, Cookstown, was charged with possession of a Class A controlled drug, namely Cocaine; possession of a Class B controlled drug, namely Cannabis; possession of Cocaine with intent to supply; concealing criminal property and possession of Benzocaine, a mixing agent used to cut Cocaine.

Paul Joseph Currie, 53, from Limekiln Lane, Cookstown, faces charges of conspiracy to possess Cannabis and conspiracy to supply Cocaine; conspiracy to conceal criminal property and having in his possession 25kgs of Benzocaine.

A third man, Darren William Frederick Loughlin, 39, from Enniskillen, is charged with possession of Cocaine and possessing Cocaine with intent to supply; possession of Cannabis and possession of Cannabis with intent to supply; concealing criminal property namely cash and possession of 25kgs of Benzocaine.

All three were remanded in custody.

An application by Loughlin for bail was refused as it was feared he was liable to re-offend.

Stephen Currie and Paul Currie will appear before Dungannon Magistrate's Court this Wednesday 16th November.

Darren Loughlin will appear before Dungannon Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 7th December.
