Happy Christmas on the cards for Nathan! thumbnailNathan with some of his 2,000 Christmas cards.

THE mother of an Autistic boy described how her son has received over 2,000 "envelopes of love" after a Courier story to send him Christmas cards.

Daphney Scott took to Facebook to explain that her 11-year-old son, Nathan, struggles with daily life but gets great joy from receiving Chirstmas cards.

"This year I am asking you good people to pop a wee Christmas card in the post for our boy," she wrote.

"He has developed a love for cards over these past few years, something we as a family receive little of."

The cards have been arriving in bulk to Daphney's house ever since and she told the Courier about the amazing experience and why it will be a Christmas to remember.

"These cards have been arriving these past few weeks in bundles, each one referred to as 'an envelope of love' for our boy," she said.

"My husband Kenny and I have been truly overwhelmed by people's kindness from all over the world. It's so heartwarming for us as parents to see his wee face light up and hear his beautiful voice as he chuckles and speaks his own unique language."

And Daphney, through the Courier, wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone following Nathan's story.

"Memorable cards and letters arrive every day and quite a few left me very emotional.

"On behalf of Nathan, we thank each and every person, from our wee home in Cookstown to all over the world, and wish you all a very happy Christmas."
