Funeral to take place of Earl of Caledonís sister

THE funeral of Lady Jane Alexander-Gillespie, the sister of the Earl of Caledon, will take place in the village tomorrow (Wednesday).

Lady Jane, or 'Janey', passed away last Thursday at the age of 55 after a lengthy illness.

She was very highly regarded in equestrian circles, regularly showing horses as well as being an accomplished exponent of riding side saddle.

Lady Jane was also an equine therapist and author.

Born in Switzerland in 1962, Lady Jane was the daughter of the 6th Earl of Caledon and the Baroness de Graevenitz.

After receiving her education at public school in England, she spent a large part of her life on the family's 5,000 acre estate in Caledon, where she trained horses.

She was married to Dr Fitzroy Gillespie of Tynan in 2013.

Lady Jane is survived by her husband, two sons and three daughters, to whom sympathy is extended.

Her funeral will be held in St John's Church, Caledon this Wednesday, 24th May at 2pm.
