Blooming disgrace! thumbnailSome of the damage caused in the attack on the floral display in the village.

FLORAL displays in Donaghmore have been attacked for the second time in a matter of weeks.

The Donaghmore Horticultural Community has been busily decorating the village as it prepares to enter Ulster in Bloom once more this year.

However, their plans have been hit with yet another setback following this latest attack on the various displays in the village.

Six planter pots were overturned outside St Patrick's Chapel in the village in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It comes just a matter of weeks after another attack on the floral displays which have become an annual and popular feature in the village.

After posting photographs of the damage on Facebook, there was a furious response from locals who were disgusted by the attack.

Claire Nugent said: "Absolutely disgusting behaviour but please do not let the mindless actions of an idiot affect your work, you have the village looking beautiful.

Nora Rafferty said: "Saw this... and felt sick and saddened."

Maria Herron said: "What sort of brainless numpties get craic out of doing this!"

A spokesperson for the Horticultural Community said they were "very upset" by the actions of those responsible, but said it would not deter them from continuing their work.
