Pupils leave school barefoot after donating shoes to children in need thumbnailPupils of Derrylatinee Primary School say goodbye to their donated shoes.

ON TUESDAY, 27th June the children of Derrylatinee Primary School took off their shoes and placed them on their desk, before leaving school barefoot.

The children donated their shoes to children in need via the wonderful work of Sal's Shoes, a charity which provides shoes across the globe.

Principal, Mrs Mary McNeice explains: "So the shoes which are unlikely to be used again by the children as their feet grow over the summer or are a little scuffed and will be replaced in time for the new school year, won't just sit in the shoe cupboard getting in the way, but will have a second life.

"A whole school leaving barefoot is powerful message that we want to help those fellow school children who have no choice and leave school barefoot every day."
