A FIRE Crew from Dungannon were involved in a dramatic rescue of a horse last week.

One fire engine from Dungannon Fire Station and one Animal Rescue Team from Omagh were dispatched to the Carland Road, where a horse had become stuck in a ditch.

A spokesperson for the Fire Service confirmed to the Tyrone Courier that at approximately 1.30pm on Thursday, 10th August the appliances made their way to the scene.

A Fire Service spokesperson told this newspaper: "Using specialist equipment the Northern Ireland Fire Rescue Service's Animal Rescue Team rescued a horse trapped in a ditch "The incident was was dealth with at 3.21pm."

It is understood the horse was returned to its owner.

At the time of going to Press yesterday afternoon, there were no details on the condition of the animal.
