South Tyrone Hospital does not have cladding similar to that used in the Grenfell Tower Block, it has been confirmed.

Speaking after the Southern Health and Social Care Trust confirmed that none of its buildings are clad with the system used in the now infamous London tower block, the Chair of Mid-Ulster District Council, Kim Ashton, welcolmed the news.

"I welcome the fact that the Southern Trust has now confirmed that none of its buildings use the same cladding system, and also thank the Northern Trust and the Housing Executive for their earlier confir mation," said Kim.

"Given the understandably high level of public concern after the tragedy at Grenfell Tower, particularly with regard to South Tyrone Hospital, the Council lobbied for this information to be made available and hopefully it will help to ease the concerns of this district's residents."
