Coal comfort in firewalk for charity thumbnailCouncillor Trevor Wilson taking the hot coals in his stride at Tullylagan Country House 'Firewalking' event.

ON FRIDAY night last Cookstown Swimming Club hosted a firewalk in aid of the Niamh Louise Foundation.

Cookstown Swimming Club tragically lost one of their members last year.

David Shrestha was known as a great sportsman who was fun, caring and extremely well liked by everyone who knew him.

The club decided to raise funds for the Niamh Louise Foundation in order to contribute to improving the mental health and emotional wellbeing of youth in Mid-Ulster and promote suicide awareness.

The Niamh Louise Foundation works tirelessly in communities all over counties Armagh and Tyrone in suicide prevention, intervention and postvention.

The Foundation receives no Government funding to support this and so relies on grant funding, donations and community fundraisers.

The firewalk took place at Tullylagan Country House, Cookstown.

The evening involved a sponsored firewalk, a number of speakers and other activities.

Around 50 people took part in the firewalk.

The event hopes to raise a good amount for the Niamh Louise Foundation. Donations are being accepted until Friday 6th October.
