Police speed warning after car detected at 115mph along dual carriageway outside Cookstown. thumbnailThe dark vehicle was travelling at 115mph on the dual carriageway.

POLICE have voiced their concerns over speeding offences in Cookstown at busy times of the day.

And they have appealed for motorists to watch their speed after a daring piece of driving on the dual carriageway between Cookstown and Moneymore.

The Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership captured this extreme breach of speed limits recently when the school runs were being carried out.

The offending driver of the dark coloured car will be reported for prosecution.

The vehicle concerned was travelling at 115mph on the dual carriageway at Dunman, on the outskirts of Cookstown at 3.26pm on 28th September.

Police said: "There is no excuse for driving of this nature.

"A pedestrian struck at such a speed would have no chance of survival." Concluded the Police spokesperson: "We are asking all members of the public to respect our roads and all that use them so together we can all share the responsibility of making our roads as safe as possible."
