The goals were scored by leading goalscorer Chris Lindsay and Lewis Matchett. Indeed, had the Youth taken their chances they would have been out of sight and were made to sweat in the end, but they held on and claimed their first trophy.

Chris Lindsay opened the scoring in the first half and further chances fell to Jacob Richardson, Joel Willis and Chris Lindsay but they could not increase their lead and went in at half time in the lead 1-0.

Lower Maze came out in the second half more determined and a great save from Alex Gibbons kept the score at 1-0 until Lewis Matchett doubled the Youths lead with a stunning first time shot.

Adam Neil had a great chance to make it three shortly after but hit his shot straight at the keeper.

The Youth then conceded a penalty from which Lower Maze reduced the arrears. The Youth began to panic but still created a few more chances through Ryan Sargeant and Aaron Potts but they could not convert them.

They held on to claim the victory and make their coaches Brian McKinney and Stephen Lindsay two very happy men.

Alex Gibbons had a great game in goals and made one stunning save at 1-0. Alex has so far had a great season and has been the model of consistency all year.

The defence of Andrew Bond, James Walker, James Ballantine, Bobby McKinney and sub Josh Smyth all had great games, especially with the blinding sun making life difficult for defenders in the second half. Andrew Bond was outstanding, putting in a man of the match peformance.

The midfield of Lewis Matchett, Adam Neill, Adam Wilson, Jacob Richardson along with subs Aaron Potts, Johny Conn, Jack Jones and Ryan Sargeant all had great games and played their part with Lewis scoring another stunning goal and Adam Neil covering every blade of grass and Adam Wilson making some important challenges.

The front two of Chris Lindsay and Joel Willis both tried their best with Chris again getting on the scoresheet and Joel making some intelligent runs and causing problems with his speed.

All in all a great result and gutsy performance from the boys and also a big thank you to all the parents, relatives and friends who turned up to support the boys on this historic day.
