Police seize explosives from Benburb

DETECTIVES from the PSNI's Serious Crime Branch have removed "dangerous items" from Benburb following searches in relation to dissident republican activity.
Speaking after the searches were carried out, Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Griffin said: "We removed a number of items during the searches, including a quantity of explosives, which will now be subject of further examination.
“This operation today has removed these dangerous items from our communities and undoubtedly saved lives.
“We will continue in our efforts to disrupt terrorists and the crimes and activities they are involved in.
Ulster Unionist assembly member for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, Rosemary Barton has welcomed the outcome of the searches.
“I would like to thank the PSNI for their dedication in tackling dissident republican activity across Fermanagh and South Tyrone. The dangerous items discovered in Benburb have now been removed, increasing the safety of local residents and ultimately saving lives," said the MLA.
“The people of Fermanagh and South Tyrone stand with the PSNI as they continue to tackle criminal activity across the constituency.
“I would urge anyone that could be of assistance to the ongoing investigations, to get in touch with the PSNI as soon as possible.
