THE Eagles Special Olympics Club were just about getting over the excitement and tiredness of competing at the All Ireland Games but are already back out in the public eye.
Thursday night was a great opportunity for the football team to get a good run out and the coaches Danny, Holly and Kieran, took full advantage.
Friday night saw the club take part in a huge parade in Cookstown as part of the 2018 Cookstown Carnival.
On Saturday morning the Eagles football team were off to Ballinamallard Utd football ground, Ferney Park, in County Fermanagh for the Lakeland SOC Invitational football fun day and five-a-side.
The Eagles were able to field two teams for the competition and performed very, very well in the blistering heat. The lads notched up wins in both Division One and two of the competition and at the close of play were runners up in Division One and winners in Division Two.
Richard Currie who was Captain of the B team on the day collected a beautiful presentation shield and all players received their medals.
The club thanks all of the team at Lakeland Special Olympics Club for asking them along to a brilliant event which was very well organised and very successful.
Also, the Eagles would like to send best wishes to Jonathan Graham from Donegal Dynamos who sustained an injury on the day.
The football management team of Danny, Caolan, Holly and Kieran were well pleased with the results but know they can improve for the start of the new season in September/October time.
Finally its celebration time for the Eagles this Wednesday, 4th July as they reflect on another hectic season at the club with highs and lows including, Ireland Games, an Ulster Football league win and a round up of the Bocce.
The Eagles will have an end of season presentation in Quinn's Corner on Wednesday, 4th July at 7:30pm.
Invitations are extended to parents, carers and most importantly their athletes and coaches to come along and enjoy the party at the close of a very tough season.
It is recruitment time also at the Eagles Club and "We Want You!" If you would like to join Eagles as a player or Athlete, in any of the club's sports: Athletics, Bocce or Football or you would just like to try out then please contact the club Facebook page for more information.
