Cookstown’s young international stars are shining brightly thumbnail

COOKSTOWN Hockey Club had internationals at every junior age grade last week as Ireland took on some of the best teams in the world.
Stewart Wylie was in Cork with the Ireland U16s and had a tough series of matches in the Five Nations against the Netherlands, England, Spain, Belgium and Germany.
However, there was a fantastic 4-3 win against England and a 2-2 draw with Spain to enjoy a wonderful stretch of hockey.
Jack Haycock was Cookstown's representative at the U18 European Championships in Santander.
His side had a very tough draw against the Netherlands and Belgium, but fought back with a 1-0 win against England and 5-0 wins against France and Poland to secure Ireland's place within the top tier of hockey in two years' time. Jack capped a brilliant tournament with a goal against Poland.
Ireland sent their U21 team to compete in the U23 Five Nations in Antwerp this season.
Cookstown 1st XI goalkeeper Josh McCabe was with the squad - missing four players with the Ireland senior team - that put in some excellent shifts against India, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Belgium.
