Eagles embark on fundraising campaign

Wednesday, 25 January 2012

THE Eagles Special Olympics Club held another successful training night on Thursday past in Primate Dixon Primary School, Coalisland with another large number of athletes in attendence.
The athletes are developing their skills and parents, carers, volunteers and committee are all beginning to recognise and adopt to his or her role.
The training sessions are going very well and it is very positive thus far. We are a little late in getting started so if all those attending could shoot for the 7pm start time that would be a big help.
The new comers are settling in well and as always we invite any other athlete or volunteer to come along and try out. The Eagles are a club for people of all ages with a learning disability.
Training continues every Thursday night at Primate Dixon Primary school Coalisland from 7-9pm.
Monday night saw the Eagles committee get together for their first committee meeting and there were a number of issues to discuss ranging from training, kit and fundraising to volunteering.
The committee are in the process of drawing up plans for the club's official launch night and party and as we mentioned last week are on the look out for a major sponsor to get the athletes kitted out for the coming season. We are aware of the current economic climate but the club will strive to be well turned out when it comes to competition time.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for fund raising then all information and help will be greatly appreciated.
The club are also awaiting our letter of acceptance from Special Olympics Ireland which will register the club as Coalisland's first ever Special Olympics Team.
Check out the club's facebook page Eagles Special Olympics Club or email your ideas and suggestions to eaglesspecialolympicsclub@mail.com
