DUNGANNON Swifts could have striker Timmy Adamson in the panel to face his former Club Linfield in this Saturday's IFA Premiership match.
But, said Swifts boss John Cunningham, he will not rush Adamson back if he is not fully fit to play.
Adamson, who returned to Stangmore Park in the summer following an injury ridden spell at the Blues is the Swifts top scorer this season but has missed the last four games after suffering a broken rib against Bangor.
“Timmy has been training but we'll still have to have a look at him during the week before deciding if he can play on Saturday.
“The last thing that we want is to put him back in before he is ready and risk him getting another knock which could result in an even worse injury.
“He has to be ready to come back himself as well so when myself, the medical team and Timmy are all happy he is ready, then he will return."
Meanwhile, Rodney McAree could be out for several weeks following a knee injury.
Said John: "To be fair to Rodney, when I arrived here, he played three games in a week and that has probably taken its toll on his knee. He'll be out for at least three or four weeks,"
Rodney may not return to action prior to his wedding at the end of the month meaning he could face a lengthy lay off.
As for the game on Saturday, Cunningham isn't expecting a similar result to the last time the sides met. The Swifts sensationally won 3-0 at Windsor Park in the Co-Operative Insurance Cup in what was Cunningham's second game in charge.
Said Cunningham: "The last time that we played there, we really got the goals at the right time. We scored an early goal and that perhaps unsettled them a bit. And then of course we scored a second before half-time and that unsettled them even further.
“In the second half, Linfield came out strong for 20 to 25 minutes. Scoring the third goal was vital for us."
Saturday's game is in fact the first in a double header against David Jeffrey's Linfield with the Blues coming to Stangmore Park next Wednesday (12th November) for the second leg of the Co-Operative Insurance Cup first round.
But that match is the last thing on Cunningham's mind right now. " he league is the most important thing of course so it's important that we prepare well for that," he said.
“The most important thing is that we keep up our performances. Of the four games so far, there has only been one bad performance at Bangor so if we must keep improving."
