Dungannon recovery ‘ahead of schedule’ thumbnailDungannon's James McMahon makes a pass.

DUNGANNON Rugby Club Head Coach Andy Hughes has admitted his side are doing better than expected after they picked up another All Ireland League victory at the weekend.

The Stevenson Park men's home win over Greystones on Saturday saw them overtake their vanquished foes to move second in Division 2B with four wins from five fixtures.

Only Armagh, who have won all five games this season, have managed to get the better of Andy Hughes' side.

And, speaking to the Courier, Andy expressed his satisfaction at how his charges have done so far this year.

“When I came in I had a plan for progression and the club had a plan for progression and where we are at the minute is slightly ahead of where I expected us to be," says Andy.

“We have played better than we did on Saturday and haven't got the same reward, but we were clinical and every time we got forward, we scored, and they had to force it then, which played into our hands."

However, while the impressive form of his charges has seen Dungannon catapulted in to one of two promotion spots, Andy isn't getting carried away just yet.

“We are just taking it each game as it comes and we are enjoying it and the club is enjoying it.

“It's good to be up at the top of the table. The club has been built on big days and that creates a buzz in the bar after and that's what we hope to see continuing."
