DUNGANNON Swifts will welcome Linfield to Stangmore Park hoping to pull off something of an upset win.

The Dungannon side haven't beaten Linfield in almost three years, when a deflected Jamie Douglas effort defeated the Blues in David Jeffrey's last season in charge of the Belfast men.

Swifts boss McAree had to watch Saturday's game from the club house as he recuperates from a hip operation, but he is hoping to return to the dugout this weekend for the visit of the most successful team in the country.

And he is confident his side is capable of picking up a positive result on Saturday.

“I'm expecting an extremely competitive and tough game," Rodney told the Courier, "it's one the players should look forward to."

“We are confident we can get a result against anybody on our day, though this is one of those games where it will have to be your day.

“It'll be one of those days where we have to click and hope that maybe Linfield don't quite fully click.

“We'll have to be at our very top level to get something out of the game, you're dealing with a top two side.

“I have faith that, if we put the effort in we could maybe get something out of it and I think it'll be a good game."

Prior to Saturday's clash at Windsor Park, Linfield take on Ballymena United after having pegged Glenavon back at the weekend from 2-0 down to grab a draw, despite playing for 80 minutes with nine men.

“From Linfield's point of view, it's a massive plus to come out with a point from the Glenavon game and it gives you huge momentum.

“Thankfully, we aren't their next match."

Dungannon should be able to welcome back Chris Hegarty this weekend after suspension, while question marks surround Peter McMahon's fitness as he came off injured on Saturday. Cormac Burke and Matt Hazley remain unavailable.

Saturday's clash with Linfield at Stangmore Park kicks off at 3pm.
