MITCHELL TO LEAVE THE SWIFTS thumbnailAndrew Mitchell

THE long-running saga surrounding the future of Dungannon Swifts' top goalscorer looks set to be resolved as Andrew Mitchell is understood to have agreed on a return to Glenavon.

Mitchell has been in sensational form this season and is the Danske Bank Premiership's leading goalscorer with 19 goals already this season.

His contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Mitchell has already indicated he will not be extending his stay with the Stangmore side.

He has attracted plenty of attention, with Linfield, Crusaders, Glenavon and Portadown all expressing an interest in the 22-year-old.

However, the Courier understands he has agreed to return to the club he supported as a child and of which he came through the youth system.

It is understood at the time of goint to press yesterday afternoon (Monday), that Mitchell would be signing a pre-contract agreement with Glenavon at the Mourneview Park side's training session last night.
