Cross country success for Cookstown pupils

Nicholas Griggs and Grace Carson, who excelled at the Ulster Schools Cross Country Championships.
TWO Cookstown High School pupils competed at the Ulster Schools Cross Country Championships at Mallusk last Wednesday.
Nicholas Griggs (Year 8) and Grace Carson (Year 13) had successfully qualified from the District Championships which were held at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in early February.
Nicholas raced in the Mini Boys 1 mile race and performed exceptionally well by finishing sixth out of a field of 120 runners.
Nicholas showed great determination to stay with the lead group in the early stages and held on well to cross the line in sixth position.
Grace competed in the Senior Girls 2km race.
Despite being a year young, Grace continued her recent good form and finished an excellent eight out of a field of 80 athletes.
Grace has now qualified for the Irish Schools Championships, which will be held at Mallusk on Saturday, 11 March.
