Wonder goal seals Swifts’ comeback thumbnailChris Hegarty is congratulated by Andrew Mitchell after levelling the scores.

A DELIGHTFUL late strike from Jamie Glackin was enough to secure victory against Glentoran.

Dungannon Swifts...2

Glentoran started the brighter with Steven O'Flynn having the first shot of the game but his half-volley from the edge of the box was narrowly off target.

Jamie Glackin saw his first effort of the match travel well wide before Glentoran should have scored had James Baird managed to send his header any where but straight into Stuart Addis' arms.

Soon after the visitors had a one-on-one but where unable to make the most of it thanks to superb goalkeeping from Addis who raced off his line and dispossed the striker.

However, Swifts were unable to remain resolute at the back and the breakthrough came just before the half hour mark as Fra Brennan got his angles wrong heading into his own net.

In the second half the Swifts had the first real chances coming close from an Andrew Mitchell header before Douglas Wilson tried his luck from long range.

The Swifts kept the pressure on but it was Glentoran who came closest.

The Swifts failed to clear a corner and O'Flynn produced a bit of magic to create an angle for the shot. However, his effort could only rattle the crossbar.

With 15 minutes remaining, Dungannon got their equaliser as Chris Hegarty rose highest to head home a corner.

Not settling for a point the Swifts kept pushing and there was to be drama late on.

Glackin took control of the ball on the half way line and drove at the Glen's backline.

He made space for himself before picking out the top right corner from the edge of the area to leave the 'keeper with no chance and secure all three points for the Swifts.

Speaking after the game Dungannon boss Rodney McAree hailed Glackin's stunning strike.

"He does it week in, week out in training," said Rodney.

"The finish was nothing short of spectacular and I'm delighted for him. He has done really well over the past two or three games.

"He has performed admirably and has built on that today and put in another tremendous performance."
