Killymoon Rangers return to action with Leslie Hall Memorial Cup thumbnailKillymoon Rangers are one of the oldest football clubs in Mid-Ulster.

AFTER spending a year on the sidelines, Killymoon Rangers FC are returning to footballing activities on Saturday, 24 June, hosting the inaugural Leslie Hall Memorial Cup match, named in memory of the late Chairman of the club who passed away suddenly in January, 2016.

A Club spokesperson told the Courier: "Having spent the past year restructuring the club, ensuring that it is in a position to compete on the pitch, and thrive off it, we are proud to return to the Mid-Ulster sporting community.

"It was only fitting that our first act is to honour the legacy of someone who supported the club behind the scenes and from the touchline for many years.

"The Leslie Hall Memorial Cup has been organised to raise money for both the club and for the Cardiac Unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital, where Leslie was cared for during his time in hospital."

The match will see Killymoon Rangers FC take on a Killymoon "Old Boys" team at Mid-Ulster Sports Arena on Saturday, 24 June at 2pm and will be the opening of a new season for Killymoon Rangers, who have already been accepted into the Ballymena and Provincial League for the forthcoming season.

Following the match, there will be a barbecue, refreshments and raffle draw in the Royal Hotel Cookstown. Everyone is most welcome.

Players wishing to participate in this match or the forthcoming season are invited to attend training on Wednesday, 21 June at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena at 6.45pm.

Continued the Club spokesperson: "The charity match will be an excellent occasion to remember the hard-work and dedication of Leslie Hall, to get our players a good run-out before pre-season starts in earnest and to show the people of Mid-Ulster that one of its oldest football clubs is back in business."

"We as a club would encourage everyone to come along on the day, and - if possible - donate through our Just Giving page, which can be found either by visiting or by visiting our Facebook page. Alternatively donations can be made on the day.

"Killymoon Rangers have also entered into the new Pre-Season Super League Tournament, which is a revamp of the traditional Cookstown Street League. The tournament starts on 15 July, and each team will play a number of competitive matches in the Mid-Ulster Area. The draw and fixtures for this pre-season tournament will be announced at the beginning of July.

"Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support. We look forward to great day on Saturday, 24 June!"
