Brackaville 3G pitch officially opened thumbnailCouncillor Dominic Molloy, Francie Molloy MP and Paul Carr are joined by local Councillors, Brackaville GFC members and community, for the opening of the new 3G pitch

BRACKAVILLE GFC 3G pitch was officially opened on Friday 23rd June.

In attendance were Councillor Dominic Molloy, Chair of Policy and Resources Committee, Mid-Ulster District Council, Francie Molloy MP, Chair of Coalisland and Dungannon Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership and Paul Carr, Department for Communities.

Brackaville GFC received over 477,000 of Neighbourhood Renewal Funding from the Department for Communities to deliver a 3G Multi Use Games Area with associated improvement works and illuminated walkway that would cater for a range of activities for both the male and female population within the Coalisland Neighbourhood Renewal Area.

This facility will provide an integrated health, wellbeing and community venue servicing the Neighbourhood Renewal Area of Coalisland.

It will provide a safe, accessible facility, particularly attractive to young people which will help to address some of the key social issues for the area.

Brackaville facilities were previously inadequate given the huge number of sporting teams the club caters for, from age 8 years plus.

The existing grass pitch was at full capacity which left no room for the development of alternative activities and was unable to cope with periods of bad weather, leaving the pitch unusable.

Attending the event on the day, Chair of the Council's Policy and Resources Committee, Councillor Dominic Molloy commented, "I'm delighted to see that the substantial enhancement works at Brackaville GFC are now complete and I have no doubt that the new facility will be a very welcome addition to the whole area.
