Calum and Adam make waves across Europe

TWO young members of Cookstown Swimming Club have made major waves in competitions in the UK and Europe.

Adam Geddis, 13, from Dungannon, took home a haul of three medals from the Netherlands Invitational Swimming Gala event, held in Eindhoven last week.

Despite still being in recovery from injury, Adam won silver in the 50m and 200m backcrawl, and also won bronze in the 100m backcrawl.

Calum Bain, also from Dungannon, made a splash in Aberdeen at the Scottish National Open Championships.

In spite of using this as a training meet for his main summer focus, the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan, he managed a personal best in the 50m free of 22.78 seconds and picked up a gold medal in the 50m butterfly. He also finished fifth in the 100m free.

Calum has a busy summer ahead with the Irish Summer Open and British Open this month - all good preparation for Taiwan in August with the Swim Ireland team,
