Street League set to kick off

Wednesday, 12 July 2017

THIS year sees big changes for the Mid-Ulster District Council Street League with the revamped competition kicking off this Saturday, 15 July.

A big addition is the new Super Cup section for junior level clubs alongside the traditional street league section for recreational, non-registered football players.

The Super Cup section will serve as a pre-season tournament for the nine clubs entered who will then start their respective club league seasons in August.

The Street League section has 10 teams entered and aims to provide non-club and retired players with competition.

Another difference is that games will be hosted in Dungannon, Cookstown and Magherafelt this year, giving players and spectators from across the district a good opportunity to participate.

Matches will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena, Fairhill Playing Fields, Meadowbank Sports arena and Drumcoo Playing Fields.

Club teams will compete to be crowned champions of the McConnell's Intersport Super Cup and the Street League teams will compete to be Mid Ulster Sports Arena Cup champions.

Entry to all matches is free and open to everyone.
