Prior to the game the Swifts had lost their previous three Irish league fixtures and needed victory for some breathing space at the bottom of the table.

However, the game started poorly for the Swifts, with a fourth defeat on the cards as they trailed 1-0 at half time.

The hosts took the leads in the fifth minute as their young Lorcan Forde burst through the middle before poking the ball through to Davidson.

He made no mistake with a fierce right-footed finish from just inside the box that thundered in off the underside of the crossbar.

Following the goal, the Swifts started to control the game, however they failed to convert their dominance into clear cut chances.

They failed to trouble the 'keeper Berat Turker, with Ryan Mayse's sliced shot in the 18th minute the closest the Swifts came in the first half.

Despite this dominance they were lucky not to head into the interval two down when Darren Murray connected with a Conor McMenamin free-kick but his headed effort dropped just over the bar.

The second half saw Dungannon given a lifeline when in the 53rd minute a diagonal ball was played to the right hand post. It was met by Johnny Lafferty who nodded it in the direction of Ryan Mayse.

The forward followed the flight of the ball and unleashed a stunning left foot volley from 18 yards that left the goalkeeper as little more than a spectator.

It was clear the equaliser had given the Swifts a new lease of life and shortly after the goal, Paul McElroy's effort was stopped by Turker.

In the 61st minute the visitors took the lead with McElroy breaking down the right wing and when his low cross came in, Kris Lowe steered it home from close range.

The comeback was complete but late on Dungannon Swifts were reduced to 10-men when their captain, Ryan Harpur was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Stephen Moan but it mattered little as they managed to hold on to secure the points.

Speaking after the game, Swifts boss Rodney McAree was delighted with the result: "It is not an easy place to come," he said."I was happy with the first half and Ryan's strike for our first was excellent.

"It gave us the encouragement we needed to go on and get the second goal."
