From the outset this game was going to be a tough fight and a tight game for both sides.

Both teams started well with the intensity set high from the starting whistle.

In the first five minutes Lurgan were awarded with two penalty corners, however, they did not manage to convert - this would be a recurring theme throughout the game.

Dungannon kept their composure and were quick to turn things around, breaking on the counter attack with forwards Laura White, Diane Robb and Karen Elliott linking well on the left flank to open up Lurgan's defence.

They were awarded a penalty corner for their efforts only to see it go narrowly wide of the right post.

As half time was approaching the game was very evenly played with both teams developing good counter attacks. Dungannon however were rewarded for their pressure applied and brilliant linking play from defence as the ball was slotted to forward Diane Robb who skilfully won another penalty corner, with a great strike saved by the Lurgan 'keeper.

With play developing in a Lurgan counter attack, the Dungannon defensive partnership of Laura Kennedy and Lisa Millar worked well to intercept the ball and feed it through to Karen Elliott who was on the break, unmarked, only to be cut short on her attack by the half time whistle.

The second half proceeded with some loose tackling in the Dungannon circle awarding Lurgan with the first penalty corner of the half, followed immediately by another. Dungannon 'keeper Victoria Kerr pulled off an outstanding save with her right foot to deny Lurgan the goal.

With 15 minutes gone of the second half Lurgan had their best spell of pressure closing down Dungannon in the right hand corner of their own half.

Their pressure eventually paid off with again another penalty corner being awarded with Victoria Kerr denying the challenge.

Another chance taken by Lurgan led to a lifted ball taking down defender Lisa Millar.

A soft penalty corner was awarded to Lurgan but they were again unable to convert.

A period of counter attacking play from Dungannon led to Lurgan's left back, Phoebe Preston, taking a deflection of the ball to her face resulting in a lengthy stoppage five minutes from full time.

Dungannon remained focused for the final minutes when the game restarted, putting pressure on Lurgan leaving them uncertain in defence and winning a long corner in the last minute.

They were unfortunate not to convert their efforts in attacking play as the full time whistle blew leaving the final score 0-0 giving both sides a well earned point and another clean sheet in a tense match.
