RSD look to be best in class. thumbnail Dungannon Royal captain, Calvin Nelson with Head Coach, Gareth McClintock.

IT'S Schools' Cup action this weekend and RSD, who enter at the third round stage, travel to play Grosvenor Grammar.

The two sides have already clashed but that was early in the season.

RSD won that one narrowly but it will count for nothing come Saturday when Grosvenor will be hoping to make home advantage count. The RSD boys may have other ideas.

Head Coach Gareth McClintock is very pleased with his young charges, saying: "This has been a very positive season to date with 10 wins out of 15 recorded, and a couple of other results which were fine margins. It is a very cohesive set of players in the senior squad this year who have worked hard throughout the season.

Since late October the team have got in to winning ways, only losing two matches out of eight and confidence has been building towards Schools' Cup with most injured players now returning to full fitness.

Even with a reasonably small forward pack, the forwards can give the team a solid platform with quick movement around the park from players like Calvin Nelson and Joshua Fegan.

Jono Shrestha in the back row is a very dangerous player at ruck time with his low centre of gravity and power.

In the back an experienced centre partnership is now developing with Ben Nichols and David Maxwell, two players who can hit hard penetrating lines, while maintaining the ability to play other backs in to the game.

Two key tactical players in the team are Luke McMullan at full back and Adam Evans at scrum half, both have the ability to pin teams in their own half with their kicking skills."

Luke McMullan and Jack Girvan both have Ulster U18 experience and that will help skipper, Calvin Nelson, cousin of Ulster star Peter, as he leads his side.

Top try scorers are Nicholas Graham and Jono Shrestha and top points scorer is Luke McMullan.

The game in Belfast kicks off at 10.45am and best wishes are extended to the team and coaches, Gareth McClintock, Gareth Lucas and Richard Chambers.
