U18s clinch Ulster Shield thumbnailU18s skipper, Conor Coyle with the Ulster Shield.

DUNGANNON U18s finished the season on a high note when they put on a commanding performance to win the Ulster Shield with a 22-5 victory over Limavady in Cookstown on Saturday.

Dungannon U18...22
Limavady U18...5

The Blue Bulls had first use of the wind and they made it count.

Relentless pressure up front saw the ball moved quickly for Ethan McKirgan to score in the corner on 15 minutes.

Shortly afterwards, Diarmuid McKeown sent 'Gannon eight points clear when he fired over a penalty. On the half hour, the mercurial Fergal Goan slipped away from a ruck 10 metres out with McKeown adding the extras for a 15-0 lead at the break.

Dungannon went 22 points clear when McKeown shot through a grubber kick for the team's top try scorer, Jack Kennedy to cross the whitewash.

Limavady never gave up though and towards the finish they were rewarded with a consolation try.

This was a great Dungannon performance with the forwards laying the platform for the backs. Well done to the coaches and the entire team.
