Harriers overcome record temperatures at London Marathon thumbnail

WITHOUT a doubt the highlight of the week and probably the year was the incredible achievements of the 12 Harriers who headed to London to conquer the big one!

26.2 miles in a record temperature of 23 degrees was always going to be a big ask, but the months of preparation paid off as all 12 made it home, rallied by the travelling support from the Sperrin Cheerleading Crew.

London Marathon Results: Brian Taggart 2.51.19; Paul McLaughlin 3.13.23; Connor Martin 3.21.07; Marty McDermott 3.25.20; Tanya Quinn 3.47.28; Nicola Gillespie 3.58.28; Ciara Coyle 4.25.07; Stephanie Henry 4.28.23; Jane Thom 4.28.53; Martin Donaghy 4.57.14; Andrea Linton 5.11.49 (PB); David Stewart 6.04.00.

Closer to home on Saturday, there was a good Harrier turnout at The Cormac 5k/10k Run.

Results: 10k -  Norman Fuller 43.54 (PB); Gerard Jones 44.12; Patsy Hughes 46.48; Steven Dornan 46.53 (PB); Martin Kolbohm 48.40; Tony O'Neill 48.58; Barry O'Neill 49.23; Catherine Farley 50.27 (PB); Peter Mitchell 51.15; Claire Fuller 57.59 PB.

5K - Sinead McGrogan 31.40; Carmel Fuller 33.07.

In Gortin, two of the ladies were on the podium for the annual 10k, Pauline McGurren was 1st and Amanda Donnelly claimed 3rd.

At Musa Park Run, the results were: Mark Reid 19.18; Gavin O'Hagan 21.28; Richard Fox 22.30 (PB); Barry Moore 24.37; Hannah Glasgow 27.09; Ellen Glasgow 27.48; Ellie Robinson 28.10; Theresa O'Hare 40.06.

On Saturday in Draperstown, the ladies again gained podium spots at The Run DC 5k/10k.

10k - Raymond Thom 43.13; Laura Mitchell 44.14 (2nd Lady); Damien Coey 47.09; Mick McCrory 48.51; Shane Curtis 50.41.

5k - James Hepburn 21.41; Amanda Donnelly 22.29 (3rd Lady); Patricia Boyle 25.03; Sinead McGrogan 29.47; Teresa McCrory 42.17.

A truly fantastic weekend of running and plenty more to come with the Belfast City Marathon only around the corner.
