Cookstown teens on a High as 13 pupils qualify for Ulster Schools Championships thumbnailSome of the Ulster Schools Championships qualifiers from Cookstown High School.

A  TOTAL of 51 young athletes from Cookstown High School travelled to Antrim Forum on recently to compete in the E District Athletics Championships.

Weather conditions were excellent and it proved to be another successful day for the High School.

Thirteen pupils finished in the top three in their event, which qualifies them for the Ulster Schools Championships which will take place on the 18th and 19th May.

 

Qualifiers from Cookstown High School are as follows:

Lucy McClenaghan - 1st Mini girls long jump
Danielle Ferguson - 1st Minor girls long jump
Elisha Hunter - 3rd Junior girls javelin
Grace Carson - 1st Senior girls 1500m and 3rd in 3000m,
Ben Smyton - 3rd Mini Boys long jump
Joseph Davidson - 3rd Mini Boys high jump
Nicholas Griggs - 1st Minor Boys 800m
Thomas Armstrong - 2nd Minor Boys long jump
Jamie Donnell - 2nd Minor boys shot putt
2nd Minor Boys 4 x 100m relay (Thomas, Nicholas, Jamie, Ewan Cruickshank)
Charlie Acheson - 1st Junior Boys javelin
Andrew Shaw - 2nd Inter Boys 3000m
Cornel Petliuc - 2nd Senior Boys 400m.

Well done to all the pupils who took part in what was a fantastic day for the school.
