All-Ireland finals loom large for Eagles thumbnailEagles athletes are gearing up for the national games in Dublin.

THE Eagles Special Olympics Club were recently crowned the Ulster Football League Champions and before they have had a chance to celebrate another big date looms large on the horizon, the National Games in Dublin.

The 14-17th June will see a large number of athletes and coaches make the trip for four days of competition and hopefully some winners' medals in the process.

The team took to the track at Meadowbank Sports Arena in Magherafelt on Sunday last for a very worthwhile and beneficial training session.

The weather was kind and the Athletes pulled out some fantastic scores, not all our Team Ulster Coaches were in attendance but the trusty Eagles Volunteers stepped into the breach and did a great job.

This week the Eagles club in general will get an opportunity to show off their skills again when they travel to Mary Peters track for a non advancement Special Olympics Ulster meet.

The team are in a bouyant mood ahead of the challenge. After that its a rest period and then all systems go for Dublin. The Eagles also have athletes in Bocce and Football and these guys too are nearing final preparations for the main event.

Thank you to all the volunteers, coaches and family members who gave up their Sunday to attend the session in Magherafelt and there was a great chance to see the guys in their Team Ulster tops posing together with our sister club Starbreakers Carrickmore.

Best of luck to both clubs and to all our Athletes and Coaches for a succesful and enjoyable games.
